We have undertaken the following projects

  Promoting Literacy on Climate Change, its Impacts and Adaptation and Mitigation through Awareness  of  Potential  Transition  to  High Renewable Energy in Sri Lanka (2021..)  

The initiative of this project was to provide authoritative basic localized information on climate change, its effects, and potential adaptations in order to encourage young action and understanding and also to reach five climate-affected and vulnerable communities and raise awareness of the global renewable energy transition and Sri Lanka's potential to transition.Our target audience were the youth (social media users) primarily, and community based   organizations, institutions, local  leaders  in selected climate impacts and vulnerable locales as the secondary audiences for this project. We targeted the local energy engineering community, renewable energy enthusiasts, policymakers, and local kids. Work that was undertaken include Preparation, printing, and distribution of posters/fact sheets on the Climate Calendar, Climate Change in Sri Lanka, and Climate-Influenced Disasters, New / Improved Website Focused on Climate Communication, Videos on Climate, Climate Change and Disasters in Sri Lanka and Social media outreach. This project was funded by British High Commission Colombo. 

  El Niño Ready Nations (2016- 2018)

This project was conducted for 19 countries with a focus on some dependent territories and regions. FECT undertook the task of reviewing the El Niño impact on Sri Lanka and the Maldives, partnered with the University of Colorado Consortium for Capacity building The Maldives Meteorological Service and the Columbia University Water Center. The Project was sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) and Consortium for Capacity Building (CCB) University of Colorado with financier USAID and led by Dr. Michael Glantz. The purpose of the project was to raise awareness on climate change, particularly on the effects on El Niño and La Niña, providing research data for regional governments and non-governmental entities, Predicting and communicating impacts on local economies and resources and monitoring weather patterns to create comprehensive climatic models.
