Dr. Lareef Zubair

Prof. Wickramagamage
Prof. Wickramagamage is working as an Emeritus Professor of geography at the University of Peradeniya and Senior Research Scientist at FECT. He obtained his B.A in Geography at the University of Peradeniya and his Ph.D. in Physical Geology from the University of London. His main areas of research include GIS, soils, hydrology, climate and EIA on all of which he has published extensively. He has been a partner, collaborator and Principal Investigator at FECT on several proposals and grants such as the Rain Water Harvesting Project (Provention), Masters in Development Practice Project (MacArthur), AgMIP project (DfID) and the PEER projects on Water and Hazards (National Academy of Sciences, USAID).

M. Z. Fathima Shakira – Administration
Since 2017, Fathima Shakira has worked as the Secretary. She completed her Personal Secretary Course at the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority, Kandy & the Microsoft Office 2007 Package on MCCE. She previously worked as a Trainee Secretary in the Science Dissemination & Education Unit at the National Institution of Fundamental Studies, Kandy. She has also completed the Certificate Course in Human Resource Management at Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Kandy.

Devindi Bandara – Account Assistant
Devindi Bandara Joined the FECT in June 2024 as an Account Assistant. She completed her Higher National Diploma in Accountancy at the College of Technology in Kandy. She is an undergraduate in Bachelor of Management Studies with Honors (BMS (Hons)) at the Open University of Sri Lanka. She has worked as an intern at Victoria Residence Project Manager’s office Mahaweli Authority Sri Lanka.

Achini Wijesiri – Junior Research Scientist
Achini holds a B.Sc. Honours degree in Statistics from University of Peradeniya. She has worked as an intern at Emjay Penguin Pvt. (Ltd.), Palletalawinna. She started working at FECT as an intern for statistics in July 2024. Currently she works as a junior research scientist and contributes to research and Data Library related work.

Hasini Warapitiya – Junior Research Scientist
In July 2023, Hasini joined the Foundation for Environment, Climate, and Technology (FECT) as an intern, focusing on environmental, climate, and disaster management research. Having graduated from the Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo, with a Bachelor of Biosystems Technology (Hons) degree in Environmental Technology, she is currently working on research, publication, and programme-related tasks at FECT.

Tarini Prabodha – IT Intern
Tarini joined FECT in August 2025 as an IT Intern. She is an undergraduate in Information Systems at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and supports strategic planning, IT operations, AI-assisted tasks, and digital communication. She has published her research abstract on AI’s impact on university students’ learning and holds national roles in AIESEC Sri Lanka.

Lumbini Chathurani – IT Intern
Lumbini Chathurani is currently pursuing a Higher National Diploma in Information Technology (HNDIT) at the Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE), Kandy. She is undergoing her industrial training as an IT Intern at the Foundation for Environment, Climate, and Technology (FECT). In her role, she is involved in web development, data-related tasks, and various IT-related projects.

Oshadha Wickramanayake – IT Intern
Oshadha joined FECT as an IT Intern in August 2025. He is a graduate of the HND in Software Engineering from NIBM Campus. During his internship at FECT, he has contributed to web development, mobile app development, data-related tasks and social media content posting.

Rimza Zacky – Accountant

Clever Shawin Perera – Junior Research Scientist
Clever Shawin Perera completed his bachelor of Science in Green Technology at the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. His passion lies in environmental stewardship, sustainable technology, and project management. Currently, he works as a Junior Research Scientist at the Foundation for Environment, Climate, and Technology (FECT). His interests include renewable energy, climate change mitigation, and biomimetic innovations for sustainable development.

Kavindya Jayathilake – Web Development Intern
Kavindya Jayathilaka began working with FECT in June 2024 as a web development intern to complete her bachelor’s degree in information and communication technology specializing in software technology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She is contributing for the web development, social media management, data-related works, and other IT-related works.

Chathuri Ayodya – Account Assistant
Chathuri Ayodya has been working as an Account Assistant since 2023. She completed her Higher National Diploma in Accountancy at the Advanced Technological College in Kandy and passed two stages of the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT). Before joining here, she worked as a Management and Accounting Trainee at the University of Peradeniya.

Asvini Senevirathna – Research Scientist
Asvini Senevirathna initially joined as an intern and after completed her internship started work as a research scientist. She graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Management and Forestry at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 2022. Previously, she completed her internship at the National Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya.

Udeshika Rathnayake – Agriculture Intern
Udeshika Rathnayake is a student at the Faculty of Agriculture, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, specialized in Agricultural Extension and Economics. She is a committed researcher contributing to global challenges, with a focus on climate action. She possesses the capability to provide solutions to economic issues concerning agricultural economics, international trade, and significant agricultural practices.

Dhulmy Bandara – Science Writer
Dhulmy Bandara joined as a science writer in 2023. She graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management from Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka in 2022. Previously, she has worked as a demonstrator at the same university. She worked on the publications and other documentation at FECT.

Maheshika Bandara – IT Intern
Maheshika Bandara Joined FECT in September 2023 as an intern to completed the Higher National Diploma in Information Technology at Hardy Advanced Technological Institute (SLIATE). She was contributed for the web development, data related works, graphic designing and other IT related works.

Ishini Jayawardana – IT Intern
Ishini Jayawardane joined FECT in January 2024, as an intern to complete her Higher Diploma in Software Engineering at National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), Kandy. She was worked on Web Development, social media, Graphic Designing and other IT related work.

Mohamed Mahroof Arshad – IT Intern
Arshad joined FECT as an IT intern in July 2025. He had completed his HND in Computing (Software Engineering) at ICBT Campus and was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering at ICBT. During his internship, he contributed to web development, mobile app development, data-related tasks, IT projects, and social media content posting.

Noor Deen – IT Intern
Rishad Khan Noor Deen joined FECT in July 2024. He had completed his Higher National Diploma in Computing and Software Engineering at ICBT, Kandy, and was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering at ICBT. He contributed to hardware, software, and infrastructure-related tasks during his internship.

Ann Keerthana – Data Analyst Intern
Ann Keerthana Mathavan joined FECT as an intern in July 2024. She held a Higher National Diploma in Information Technology from the Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE), Kandy. She was involved in data-related work, social media management, and related IT projects.

Himaza Mifthah – Mobile App Development Intern
Himaza Mifthah began her internship at FECT in July 2024, focusing on mobile app and web development. She held a Higher National Diploma in Information Technology from SLIATE, Kandy. During her time at FECT, she contributed to projects in mobile and web development, social media management, and various IT-related tasks.

Hepzhibah joined FECT as an intern in July 2024 to complete her Higher National Diploma in Business Administration at SLIATE, Kandy. She worked on administrative, HR, and account-related tasks during her internship.

Dulanga Dasanayake – Hardware Intern
Dulanga Dasanayake joined FECT as a hardware intern in Akurana while completing his Higher National Diploma in Information Technology from SLIATE. He was primarily responsible for managing hardware tasks and maintaining infrastructure. He also contributed his skills in computer hardware, web development, troubleshooting, IoT, microcontroller programming, and software development.

Haya Jameel – Administrative Intern
Haya Jameel joined FECT in October 2024. She was part-qualified in ACCA and held the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business (RQF level 4). She contributed to the administration, accounts, and legal divisions during her time at FECT.

Shalika Senaratne – Research Intern
Shalika Senaratne was an undergraduate pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Peradeniya. During her internship at FECT, she focused on operations research, supply chain management, mathematical modeling, optimization techniques, and statistics, applying analytical methods to solve real-world problems efficiently.

Shifani Jaufer – IT Intern
Shifani Jaufer had completed her Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Computer Networking at London Metropolitan University. She was in her fourth year as an undergraduate at the Eastern University of Sri Lanka studying BSc (Hons) in Business Management, majoring in Information Management.
